Cycling in the City
Bicycle, participation and transformation of the territory – book launch of the “Gingar na cidade” project by the Rés de Chão association (Marvila, Lisbon, Portugal)
On the 20tth of February of 2025 Rita Ochoa, as part of the Intermittent City team, went to Marvila Municipal Library to the launch of the book “Gingar na cidade. Bicicleta, participação e transformação do território” (editor: Tigre de Papel). This project promotes cycling as an alternative to solve the problem of public transportation access, in Marvila district, which presents several inequalities in terms of mobility. The book compiles texts from various authors about cycling, mobility and sustainability, specifically for the inhabitants of Marvila, in the scope of participatory methodologies.
Gingada is a project co-financed by the BIP/ZIP program (Lisbon City Council) and promoted by the Rés do Chão association (RC) and the Grupo Recreativo Janz a Associados (GRJA). It had a wide range of partners, including the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, the Marvila Library, and CICS.NOVA, CeiED/Universidade Lusófona, the 4 Crescente Community Group and the Marvila Parish Council (JFM)
