‘Germinate a seed bank’ is a project created by the association margens simples (simple margins), which aims to create a seed bank from the school space, involving the local community.
The aim is to educate active citizens to build a society that is more aware of its natural heritage and to use dematerialisation mechanisms [collaborative economy and sustainable consumption] that contribute to the conservation of the existing genetic heritage.
The project began in October 2019, in partnership with the Padre Bartolomeu de Gusmão School Group and the A.L. Belo Correia Seed Bank, National Museum of Natural History and Science, and was funded by the Lisbon City Council’s Bip/Zip programme – Lisbon’s Priority Intervention Neighbourhoods and Zones. In 2021, funded by the same programme in the ‘Good Practices’ dimension, it expanded the areas of intervention and has the Manuel da Maia School Group as its new partner.
