Mercado de Arroios

Arroios Market exists in Lisbon since more than 75 years as a fresh food market. In 2017, after big renovations, the market has changed its dynamics and become a multi-functional space, hosting small shops and restaurants all around the circular structure and building a diverse program of activities, parallel to the food selling. The rhythm of the activities in the market become intermittent: during daytime, the fresh food vendor occupy the space; in the evening, when all the stands are closed, light bulbs start get turned on and part of the space gets occupied by seats and table from the restaurants, where people can seat to share food and talks.
