Opening its doors in 2013 (and closing in 2021), the “Peixaria Centenária” (Centennial Fish Market) is a fresh fish store managed by three young and enterprising partners, all of them from fishing families.
On Friday nights (or by advance request for another day), right after the shop closes, they store the fresh catch of the day, remove the excess ice from the aluminum counter, cover it with a foldable wooden top, and transform the counter into a dining table. By turning off the lights and creating a more intimate and comfortable ambiance, the fish store “Peixaria Centenária” becomes the restaurant “A Banca na Peixaria” where the well-known Chef Pedro Marques, using the unsold fish, prepares “no fixed menu” dinners for those who have made a reservation in advance.
